8.7 million of Central Luzon’s 12.4 million residents fully vaxxed vs COVID-19

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Only 8,728,555 of Central Luzon’s 12,422,172 total population, based on the 20202 census, are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, latest data from the Central Luzon Center for Health Development (CLCHD) showed.

The CLCHD said 9,170,179 persons or 103.1 percent of the target population have received the first dose of the vaccines as of Sept. 12.

The CLCHD also said 2,577,668 individuals have received booster shots against the viral disease. The number is roughly 29 percent of the target population.

The agency stated that the fully vaccinated individuals in the region comprise 98.13 percent of the target population, which is 70 percent of the total population.

Meanwhile, the government aims to vaccinate 90 percent of the elderly in Central Luzon. So far, at least 840,967 of them, or 79 percent of the target have been fully vaccinated.

From Sept. 6 to 12, the agency registered 1,358 new COVID-19 cases in the seven provinces and two highly urbanized cities of Central Luzon.

It recorded a total of 385,336 COVID-19 cases in the region since the pandemic began in 2020. Of these, 374,970 have recovered while 7,578 died.
