OLONGAPO CITY — Another former member of a communist rebel group operating in Zambales province surrendered to government authorities, police said on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
Colonel Carlito Grijaldo, acting city police director, identified the surrenderer as “Ka Totoy.” He used to be a member of the Komiteng Larangan Gerilya Tarlac-Zambales.
On Tuesday, “Ka Ubas,” 25, a former Militiang Bayang Iskwad Tres member, surrendered to government forces.
Brigadier General Cesar Pasiwen, regional police director, said “hunger, hardship, and unfulfilled promises” have forced these rebels to abandon the armed struggle. INQ
