Probers seek motive in killing of cop in Davao de Oro
DAVAO CITY, Davao del Sur — The Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office has started looking into all possible motives for the killing of one of their own on Sunday afternoon.
Assigned to the police provincial office, Senior Master Sgt. Rey Binalangbang was traveling alone and on reaching an isolated place in Barangay Banlag in Monkayo town, he stopped to relieve himself.
Suddenly, men on two motorcycles arrived and shot him several times.
Other details of the killing were not available as of this writing as investigators were still retracing his route.
Witnesses immediately brought the officer to the nearest hospital where he was declared dead.
The officer was survived by his wife, Alice Binalangbang, a former three-termer councilor of Montevista, another town in the province.
Col. Benedicto L. Faco, officer in charge of the provincial police office, has mobilized all units in his area to run after the killers.
Faco also urged witnesses and anyone who might have some knowledge about the possible motive of the killing to cooperate in the investigation.
