THE University of the Philippines Cebu held its annual Humanities culminating activity last March 16.
The event, titled Zoom in Zoom out, featured 11 short films made by Humanities 1 students.
The event also had a fashion show that showcased the designs made by the students. The artworks such as terra cotta sculptures, paintings and T-shirt design were also on display.
Nina Alcoseba, A UP Mass Communication student, said, “This year’s film festival/art show was very well-organized. It was quite better than the last year’s since it was more orderly and was free of any controversy.”
Although the fashion show got the people excited, the highlight of the event was the screening of the competing short films. “The films have good stories despite being made by amateurs,” Alcoseba said.
The entry “Armrest,” a love affair revolving around an armrest, bagged the best film, best director and best screenplay award. Jorja Yrastorza said she was already rooting for “Armrest” to get the gold. “It was clear, no dull moments at all. My eyes were on the screen the whole time. The cinematography and acting was good too,” she said.
