MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Makati is the only local government unit (LGU) in Metro Manila to receive a performance bonus from the national government, its Mayor Abby Binay said on Wednesday.

Makati is among the 366 LGUs nationwide qualified to receive the performance-based bonus (PBB) for the fiscal year 2021.

Binay said the Inter-Agency Task Force released the announcement on the Harmonization of National Government Performance Monitoring, Information, and Reporting Systems.

“The performance-based bonus for City Hall employees is well-deserved,” Binay said in a statement.

“This is a strong validation of our efforts to promote clean, honest, and efficient government,” she said of the city’s PBB award.

First introduced in 2012, the PBB is a top-up bonus given to employees based on their contribution to the achievement of the LGU’s targets and commitments for the fiscal year.

The PBB is given yearly to eligible departments, agencies, and LGUs nationwide. Alyssa Joy Quevedo, INQUIRER.net trainee
