CA panel defers OK of Laguesma’s ad interim appointment as DOLE chief

MANILA, Philippines — A Commission on Appointments (CA) committee on Wednesday moved to defer the approval of Bienvenido Laguesma’s ad interim appointment as Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary to Sept. 20.
The CA committee on labor, employment, social welfare, and migrant workers moved to have the hearing suspended due to the lack of time given to committee members to ask their questions.
“I’ve moved for lack of material time, I move to suspend the consideration of ad interim appointment of Bienvenido Laguesma as secretary of labor and employment,” said CA majority floor leader Rep. Luis Villafuerte Jr.
Members of the committee then seconded the motion to move the hearing to a later date.
The next hearing is set for Tuesday, September 20.
