LIGAO CITY — Police arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 13, the suspect involved in burglary incidents in Daraga town in Albay province after security footage taken by cameras in areas the crimes occurred revealed his identity.
Axiel Montes, a native of Legazpi City, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. in his temporary residence in Barangay Tagas through a hot pursuit operation.
“The successful arrest of the suspect emanates from the CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage, which revealed his full identity, the same person/subject of our intel-build operations and under monitoring because of the past theft incidents in the Area of Responsibility,” Lieutenant Colonel Carl Joseph B. Jaucian, officer-in-charge of Daraga police, told the Inquirer in a phone interview on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
Jaucian said among the items stolen by Montes were a mountain bike and an airconditioning unit owned by government employees.
The police recovered the items.
A charge for violation of the Anti-fencing law is being readied against the owner of a junkshop and a ‘buko’ (young coconut) vendor who bought the stolen goods.
The suspect, who is now behind bars, will be charged with theft.
