MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Police arrested Wednesday a Chinese man and rescued 43 foreigners allegedly detained inside a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) site in nearby Angeles City.
In a statement, Central Luzon police director Brigadier General Cesar Pasiwen said Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group operatives raided the Lucky South 99 building at Fil-Am Friendship Highway in Angeles City to rescue Wu Jia and 42 other foreign nationals.
Pasiwen said the police team arrested Chen Yi Ben, 33, of Clark Freeport Zone, a human resource officer for the POGO company.
“The operation stemmed from information received by AKG about foreign nationals being employed but detained in a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation in the area,” Pasiwen said, adding that the arrested Chinese man and the rescued foreigners were brought to Camp Crame in Quezon City. INQ
