SANTIAGO CITY—Authorities on Monday (Sept. 12) seized illegally cut lumber worth about P900,000 after intercepting two vans from Santa Fe town in Nueva Vizcaya province.
Gwendolyn Bambalan, director of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Cagayan Valley, said 55 pieces of 983.39 board feet of narra valued at P492,000 were found in one of the vans.
The DENR said the other van, which tried to escape when flagged down, yielded 53 pieces of 804 board feet of narra flitches worth P420,000.
