DUMAGUETE CITY — Police investigators have yet to identify the person who killed a Chinese businesswoman and wounded her partner outside the two victims’ house in Barangay Tugas, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental on Sunday (September 11) evening.

The fatality was identified as Quiyan Shi while her partner Zhuang Jiangcheng is still recuperating at the hospital, according to Col. Jonathan Pineda of the Negros Oriental Police Office.

The two victims own Cheng Enterprises in Negros Oriental.

The driver, who declined to give his name, said that Quiyan and Zhuang got out of the car to open the front door to their house.

An unknown gunman on board a motorcycle then appeared and grabbed Quiyan’s bag.

But the female victim resisted and refused to give her bag, prompting the assailant to fire at her. Quiyan suffered gunshot wounds in her neck and chest.

Zhuang tried to help, but the gunman shot him in the lower abdomen.

The victims’ driver attempted to stream-roll the assailant’s motorcycle, but the latter still managed to escape.

Quiyan was pronounced dead on arrival at the Urgent Care Clinic by the attending physician while Zhuang is still under observation in a private hospital in Dumaguete City.

Investigators have yet to identify the assailant, who wore a black jacket and a bull cap.

In a press release, Col. Pineda condemned the attack and directed all police units to immediately implement the “Oplan Tambayayong” to assist the Tanjay City Police Station in the immediate arrest of the perpetrator.
