Bongbong Marcos names new BI chief
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has designated lawyer Norman Tansingco as the new Bureau of Immigration (BI) commissioner.
“We confirm the appointment of Atty. Norman Garcera Tansingco as Commissioner, Bureau of Immigrations, Department of Justice,” Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said in a statement Monday.
Tansingco worked at BI from 2007-2017 as chief of staff of then-Commissioner Marcelino Libanan, who now serves as a House minority leader.
Tansingco was also a concurrent technical assistant for operations under the office of the BI Commissioner and Attorney III of the BI Board of Special Inquiry.
