NBI starts probe of alleged BI appointment document
MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has started its investigation of a document supposedly showing the appointment by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. of a Bureau of Immigration (BI) commissioner, Malacañang said Wednesday.
“As of yesterday afternoon, I was informed by Justice Secretary Boying Remulla that the NBI has already commenced its investigation,” Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said at a press briefing.
“We are waiting to hear from the CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group),” she added.
Angeles earlier said the Palace has no record of the document purporting to be the appointment papers of former New Era University College of Law Dean Abraham Espejo Jr. as the BI commissioner.
The said document was carried by several news outlets, reporting on the supposed appointment.
