MANILA, Philippines — A slight increase in COVID-19 cases was noted in Metro Manila independent pandemic monitor OCTA Research on Sunday, attributing it to increased mobility.

OCTA Research fellow Guido David on Sunday said the positivity rate in Metro Manila increased to 13.3 percent on September 9 from the previous week’s 12.1 percent.

“NCR is having a slow uptick in Covid cases. This is not unexpected given the increased mobility of the population,” said David on Twitter.

Metro Manila’s reproduction number, on the other hand, also increased to 1.11 from 0.93, meaning infections are increasing.

A growth rate of 6 percent was also recorded from September 3 to 10, much higher compared with the week before which was at -17 percent.

The average daily attack rate in the region also slightly increased to 5.58 per day — which David noted is still low.

COVID-19 hospital bed occupancy and ICU occupancy also remained low at 34.5 percent and 28.9 percent, respectively

The are a total of 26,074 active COVID-19 cases nationwide as of Saturday, September 10.

As of September 10, the country has 26,074 active COVID-19  infections.
