Trough of ‘Inday,’ habagat to bring rain in parts of PH on Sunday

Inday

MANILA, Philippines — The trough of Typhoon Inday (international name: Muifa) along with the southwest monsoon or “habagat” will bring rain over parts of the country on Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Inday is currently located 405 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour (kph) with gustiness of 160 kph.

The typhoon is currently moving northwestward and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by late Tuesday or early Wednesday. It is not currently affecting the country’s weather condition.

“However, its trough may bring heavy rainshowers during thunderstorms over the eastern section of Southern Luzon and the western portion of Central Luzon,” Pagasa said in its advisory.

Inday may also enhance the southwest monsoon which may bring rain in the western sections of Southern Luzon and the Visayas.

Meanwhile, Inday will cause moderate to rough seas in the seaboards of Batanes with waves reaching 2.0 to 4.0 meters, and in the Babuyan Islands with 1.5 to 3.0 meters of waves.
