Fire hits machine shop, house in Baybay City

ORMOC CITY — A fire destroyed a machine shop and a nearby house in Baybay City, Leyte on Friday (Sept. 9).

The fire started at the machine shop owned by Victorian Retamas Yu, based on the investigation conducted by SFO1 Al Sta. Iglesia.

Yu told fire investigators that he was sleeping in his nipa hut when he suddenly heard a thud outside, prompting him to get up from his bed and notice a fire that emanated from his machine shop.

FEATURED STORIES

Yu said he immediately took a fire extinguisher with the intention of putting off the fire but to no avail.

The fire was placed under control at around 4:32 a.m. and was totally out at around 4:50 a.m.

No casualties were reported.

Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
