TAGBILARAN CITY — The “PinasLakas” booster vaccination drive initiated by the Department of Health (DOH) against COVID-19 began in Bohol province on Saturday, Sept. 10.
The program’s launching was held in a mall and was attended by the DOH-Central Visayas led by Dr. Jaime Bernadas, regional health director; various medical professionals; non-government organization partners; volunteers; parents; and students.
Bernadas urged Boholano residents to get vaccinated and boosted.
“Let’s not wait for the vaccine to be defeated by the COVID-18. It should be the COVID-19 defeated by the vaccine. And that will be achieved if we are quickly immunized so that the virus can’t transfer and live,” he said.
The event was attended by Gov. Aris Aumentado, Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap, and her husband former Tagbilaran City Mayor Baba Yap.
Aumentado and Baba Yap also got their booster shots.
PinasLakas Booster Campaign is a directive of President Marcos Jr. to intensify the country’s COVID-19 vaccine efforts.
Aumentado said the PinasLakas campaign was needed for economic recovery and timely for the opening of classes.
“In order for our economy to return, everyone must be vaccinated to welcome all investors who will invest in our province,” he said.
The Pinaslakas campaign aimed to give booster shots to over 500 individuals, including school children.
Jane said they will continue the mobile vaccination drive in the villages to urge senior citizens to get immunized against COVID-19.
