PH adds 2,404 new COVID-19 infections; active cases rise to 24,302
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday registered 2,404 new infections of COVID-19 on Thursday, with active cases increasing to 24,032.
With this, the country’s total caseload is now at 3,898,882 nationwide, along with 3,812,644 recoveries and 62,206 deaths.
These new cases are slightly lower than the average number of daily infections recorded from August 29 to September 4 at 2,449, and significantly higher than the documented infections on Wednesday at 1,750.
Metro Manila also continued to have the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 9,052 cases, followed by Calabarzon at 4,011, then Central Luzon at 2,580, based on the COVID-19 tracker.
On the other hand, Quezon City is still at the top of the list of areas with the most reported cases in the last two weeks at 2,152, followed by Cavite, which recorded 1,317, and Manila at 1,155.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, the tracker showed that only 20,515 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday, reflecting the number of recorded infections on Friday, Sept. 9.
