MANILA, Philippines — The family of pharmaceutical executive Eduardo Tolosa Jr., who was kidnapped and then murdered, has called on Carlo Cadampog, one of the persons of interest in the case, to surface and prove his innocence.

Atty. Harry Roque, who represents the Tolosa family, came to the Department of Justice (DOJ) where the complaint against 11 individuals were filed. Tolosa was the president and chief executive officer of Iraseth Pharma Inc.

“Nandito kami para magbigay ng mensahe kay Carlo Cadampog, hindi ka pa namin kino-consider na ikaw ang salarin. Harapin lang ang proseso,” Roque told reporters.

[We are here to send a message to Carlo Cadampog. We still do not consider you a suspect. You have to come out and face the (legal) process.]

Suspects-turned witnesses have identified Cadampog as the alleged mastermind of Tolosa’s kidnapping and murder.

Cadampog, his brother Cesar, and nine others are facing a complaint for murder, kidnapping for ransom, and arson before the DOJ.

The DOJ will assign the case to a prosecutor and set a preliminary investigation.

“Kung wala kayong tinatago, sana po ay sumipot kayo sa preliminary investigation. Meron naman tayong Rule of Law,” Roque added.

Roque said suspects-turned-witnesses had identified Cadampog as the one driving the Toyota Land Cruiser where Tolosa was last seen alive.

The Land Cruiser, as well as a burnt corpse believed to be that of Tolosa, was discovered in Pampanga.

Witnesses said they burned Tolosa’s corpse for three days after he was killed.

Tolosa’s sister, Alpha Serranilla said they are still waiting for the result of a DNA test performed on what appeared to be human skeletal remains that were recovered in Pampanga.

Tolosa was last seen on July 19 onboard a white Toyota Land Cruiser. He called an official of Iraseth for instruction to get from his vault US$102,700, 2,800 euros, 186 Singapore dollars, a Rolex watch, and a Hublot watch. The money and the other items were delivered to him by his driver. After receiving the items, Tolosa could no longer be contacted.
