TD outside PAR has no direct effect; ‘habagat’ induces rains in 7 areas across PH
MANILA, Philippines – While the tropical depression being monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) has no direct effect over the country, scattered rains will persist over Western Visayas and six other areas due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” said the state weather bureau.
In its early morning forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the tropical depression was last plotted 1,680 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
“Ang bagyong ito ay napakalayo at wala pong epekto sa ating bansa at hindi po iyan nahihila o naapektuhan ang habagat,” said Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio.
(This storm is very far and has no effect in our country. It does not pull or affect the southwest monsoon.)
He noted, however, that overcast skies and sporadic rains will still prevail in Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Zambales and Bataan due to the southwest monsoon.
