MANILA, Philippines — A recruitment agency in Makati City was closed down for its continued illegal recruitment operations despite losing its license nearly three months ago, according to Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople.

In a statement, Ople said that the Department of Migrant Workers padlocked the offices of Azizzah International Manpower Services Inc. on Saturday after it kept issuing job orders for household service and skilled workers to Saudi Arabia even after its license was revoked in June this year.

It also continued to charge placement fees worth a month’s salary from applicants. The recruitment agency was shut down due to “grave violations that involve exploitation of workers,” she said.
