MANILA, Philippines — There were 2,452 new cases of COVID-19 recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) on Friday, bringing the country’s total caseload to 3,886,395.
Of the total, 23,703 are active cases, while the total number of deaths is now at 61,910 after 46 new deaths were recorded.
The total number of recoveries is at 3,800,782.
The current positivity rate in the country is 13.8 percent, still above the World Health Organization’s benchmark of five percent.
Octa Research fellow Guido David, who makes forecasts on daily COVID-19 cases, said the number of new cases is “below [the] forecasted 2,700 [cases].”

In the figures which he posted on Twitter, David said 712 of the new cases are from Metro Manila.
Octa said that based on these figures, the projected number of cases on Saturday would be about 2,100.
