MANILA, Philippines — The families of the three victims killed in a shooting incident in Taguig City will each receive P500,000 from Senator Raffy Tulfo.

The alleged gunman, Julian “Jimboy” Paningbatan Jr., a former officer of the Philippine Navy, surrendered to Tulfo through his public affairs show Wanted sa Radyo on Thursday.

Paningbatan is the suspect in the shooting, which left dead his former girlfriend, Marie Angelica Belina, and her two companions, Tashane Joshua Branzuela, and Mark Ian Desquitado.

Tulfo said he extended the financial assistance to help with the victims’ burial and other expenses.

He likewise assured the victims’ families that justice would be served.

“Makakaasa po kayo na tututukan namin ang kasong ito para siguradong gugulong ang hustisya at magiging maayos ang takbo ng kaso sa korte. I assure you that justice will be served,” said Tulfo.

(You can expect that we will focus on this case to ensure that justice will prevail and the process will run smoothly in court.)

Tulfo also told Paningbatan, who admitted that he killed his former partner out of anger, that there is not enough reason to justify the shooting incident.

According to the Taguig City Police, Paningbatan has four standing warrants for robbery and three counts of car theft.
