Iloilo City mayor offers P50,000-reward for arrest of gunman in boy’s slay

Iloilo City's mayor has dangled a P50,000 cash reward for any information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect in the killing of a 20-year-old boy.

ILOILO CITY — The mayor of this city has dangled a P50,000 cash reward for any information that will lead to the arrest of the person who gunned down a 21-year-old boy.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said authorities are going after a certain John Rovel Vargas who was accused of killing Sean Axel Del Castillo in the Smallville Entertainment Complex in Barangay San Rafael in Mandurriao district last August 21.

Del Castillo was shot in the back and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

The killing of Del Castillo prompted Treñas to issue two executive orders which include serving of alcoholic drinks only between 8 a.m. and 2 a.m. the next day, and that only security guards who are trained and licensed by the Philippine National Police are allowed to man establishments serving these beverages.

Del Castillo’s family earlier announced that they are willing to offer a P100,000 reward to those who could locate Vargas.
