MANILA, Philippines — The Social Security System (SSS) has assured the general public that no member data records were affected by the fire that broke out in its main building in Quezon City early Sunday morning.

“SSS assures the public that all member data records are not affected and there is no interruption in the delivery of its services in all branches and via online thru My.SSS, SSS Mobile App, and uSSSap Tayo portals,” said SSS in a statement Sunday afternoon.

It then also said that all payments will be accepted and posted accordingly.

The fire started at 1:43 a.m. on Sunday before it was raised to the first alarm by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) at 2:05 a.m.

According to SSS, the fire originated from the UPS Room, but the building’s “fire suppressant system” contained its spread to other parts of the building.

BFP declared the fire extinguished at 5:11 a.m. and reported no injuries or deaths but estimated the cost of damage at P700,000.
