MANILA, Philippines — Another round of distribution of educational cash assistance for poor students from the Department of Social Welfare and Development would take place on Saturday, August 27.
Unlike last weekend’s initial payout, the DSWD said the second distribution event will be made at designated sites nationwide.
Qualified recipients may receive P1,000 for elementary students, P2,000 for junior high school students, P3,000 for senior high school students, and P4,000 for college students or those taking vocational courses.
Three students per indigent family can avail of the educational cash assistance under the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program. This benefit, however, excludes those who are already getting help from the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, also known as 4Ps.
Below is the list of study aid payout sites across the country:
The first distribution day of the educational cash assistance last August 20 was marred with chaos as large crowd swarmed the DSWD central office to avail of the aid. This incident prompted the DSWD to seek the help of local government units for the venue and conduct of payout.
The agency also prohibited walk-ins during the distribution.
Up to 400,000 indigent students are anticipated to benefit from the educational cash support as P1.5 billion was earmarked for the program.
