LPA near Bicol to bring rain to Southern Luzon, Eastern Visayas — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) spotted near the Bicol Region is expected to bring rain over the eastern portions of Southern Luzon along with the Eastern Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday.

The last time Pagasa plotted the LPA was 135 kilometers east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.

Aside from the LPA, state meteorologists said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) would also bring cloudy skies in Mindanao and the southern parts of the Visayas.

Pagasa’s three-day weather outlook said weather conditions in Legazpi City might improve over the coming days.

For Saturday, the range of temperatures in the Bicol Region will be lower because of the LPA. The temperature in Legazpi is projected at between 26 to 31 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, Metro Manila will experience between 24 and 33 degrees, Tuguegarao with 25 to 34 degrees, Laoag with 24 to 31 degrees, Tagaytay with 22 to 31 degrees, and Puerto Princesa with 25 to 31 degrees.

Meanwhile, Tacloban City, Cebu City, Iloilo, Zamboanga and Cagayan de Oro will have cooler days.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) forecasted rain for eastern areas of Southern Luzon and the Eastern Visayas on Friday due to a low-pressure region (LPA) located near the Bicol Region.

The LPA was last visible 135 kilometers east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, according to a meteorological bulletin issued by Pagasa.

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring gloomy conditions to Mindanao and the southern regions of the Visayas, as reported by state meteorologists.

According to Pagasa’s forecast for the next three days, the weather in Legazpi City may start to improve soon.

Due to the LPA, Saturday will have a narrower temperature range in the Bicol Region. Forecasts put the high temperature in Legazpi between 26 and 31 degrees Celsius. However, temperatures will range from 24°C to 33°C in Metro Manila, 25°C to 34°C in Tuguegarao, 24°C to 31°C in Laoag, 22°C to 31°C in Tagaytay, and 25°C to 32°C in Puerto Princesa.

While these cities see warmer weather, Tacloban, Cebu, Iloilo, Zamboanga, and Cagayan de Oro will enjoy milder days.

Even though no gale warnings have been issued, Pagasa has predicted moderate sea conditions for Luzon and Eastern Visayas.
