MANILA, Philippines — Police authorities recently seized an estimated P1.4 million worth of marijuana plants in several areas of Davao del Sur, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
In a statement on Wednesday, the PNP said some 5,000 fully grown marijuana plants seized in a police operation conducted in Barangay Kimlawis, Davao del Sur on August 20 at past 4 a.m.
The marijuana plants, which are worth P1 million, were destroyed.
After an hour, police undertook another operation in a nearby sitio, uprooting P400,000 worth of marijuana plants, the law enforcement agency added.
“The proximity between the two areas raises the possibility that the same cultivator or group of cultivators could be behind these clandestine farms. Our personnel are working doubly hard to intensify our operations,” PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said. — Lyka Farillon, Inquirer.net trainee
