MANILA, Philippines — Generally fair weather is seen to prevail across the country on Thursday after Severe Tropical Storm Florita (international name: Ma-on) barreled most areas of Northern Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Florita left the country on Wednesday morning and was last located 585 kilometers west of Calayan, Cagayan, according to Pagasa weather specialist Raymond Ordinario.

Tropical cyclone wind signals are no longer hoisted over any parts of Luzon or the entire country, he added.

“Dahil nga ito ay patuloy na kumikilos papalayo ng bansa, wala na itong direktang epekto sa ating bansa,” Ordinario explained.

The state weather service also said it is not expecting any storm to enter or form within the Philippine area of responsibility in the next three days.

“Patuloy na nating aasahan ang maaliwalas na panahon [sa buong Luzon] na merong chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms” around afternoon or everning, said Ordinario, adding the same weather conditions may be anticipated in Visayas and Mindanao.

Ordinario urged the public not to be complacent because the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” may still strengthen the chances of isolated thunderstorms.
