MANILA, Philippines – An unidentified person seized a refrigerated van containing ice cream tubs of still undetermined value from a cold storage warehouse in Cavite, police said Wednesday.

In an incident report, the Cavite Municipal Police Station said the perpetrator broke into the Orient Cold Storage INC (OSCI) building in Barangay Maderan, in Gen. Mariano Alvarez, Cavite at about 3:35 AM on Monday.

Police said the person then took off with a Mitsubishi L300 van with plate number DAZ-6492 which carried an ice cream shipment for distribution. The van was parked beside the cold storage facility.

“Initial investigation disclosed that an unidentified person took and driven (sic) away the vehicle parked inside the compound of the establishment,” the incident report read.

Police said the stolen vehicle was registered to OSCI and an employee reported the theft on Monday.

It was not immediately known if the theft was an inside job, or just a common thief with a hankering for a sweet treat.
