LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—Work and class suspensions in Ilocos Sur province have been extended until Wednesday (Aug. 24) due to the inclement weather caused by Severe Tropical Storm “Florita,” according to an executive order issued by Gov. Jeremias “Jerry” Singson.
The suspension covers classes at all levels in public and private schools and work in public offices in the province, said Singson.
Exempted from the governor’s order were government agencies and departments involved in the delivery of basic and health services, calamity response and preparedness.
Government offices engaged in “vital public services” have to continue operating, added Singson.
He said the suspension of work in private business establishments and offices would be at the discretion of their respective heads.
All local government units in the province had been directed by Singson to “take all necessary measures to protect life and property” amid the onslaught of Florita.
According to the latest bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, Ilocos Sur is currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2. INQ
