MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has suspended the number coding scheme for Tuesday, August 23, and Wednesday, August 24 due to heavy rains caused by severe tropical storm “Florita.”

“In view of the suspension of work and classes by Malacañang and due to heavy rains, the number coding scheme is suspended today and tomorrow,” MMDA Public Affairs Director Sharon Gentalian told reporters in a Viber message.

Malacañang has suspended classes in public schools and worked in government offices in Metro Manila and several Luzon provinces until Wednesday due to Florita.

Florita has made landfall over Maconacon, Isabela, causing the weather bureau to raise Signal No. 3 over five areas in Northern Luzon.

Heavy to intense with at times torrential rains are expected over Cagayan, Isabela, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
