TUGUEGARAO CITY—At least 150 families or about 500 individuals in Cagayan and Isabela provinces were evacuated Tuesday due to torrential rains and gusty winds spawned by Severe Tropical Storm “Florita.”
Rogelio Sending Jr., Cagayan provincial information officer, told the Inquirer that the displaced families were from Baggao, Gonzaga, Gattaran, and Iguig towns.
Villagers in low-lying areas in Isabela’s coastal town of Divilacan had also begun seeking temporary shelters due to the threat of flooding, according to Constante Foronda, provincial disaster risk-reduction management officer.
Relief packs were distributed to the evacuees, local officials said.
The northern and eastern portions of mainland Cagayan and the eastern portion of Isabela were placed under tropical cyclone wind signal number 3, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration. INQ
