MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Imee Marcos on Monday called on the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the increasing series of disappearances, especially of women and youths, in recent weeks.
The latest incident involves a 15-year-old female biker from San Jose del Monte City who was found dead in Bustos after being reported missing since August 9.
Her body had bruises, cigarette burns, and strangulation marks. The forensic autopsy report indicated that the teenager was raped.
“I’m requesting the PNP and NBI to immediately investigate and punish any perpetrators of the disappearance of individuals, especially the young woman who was raped and brutally killed. They should not spare anyone,” Marcos said in Filipino.
She said law enforcement agencies should be especially alert now that in-person classes have reopened for 28 million students.
“Because parents are worried, the authorities must stop the series of abductions and killings, especially now that their children have returned to school,” she said.
