Signal No. 2 raised in 4 more areas as ‘Florita’ continues to move west of PH

Four more areas were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 on Monday night, as Tropical Storm “Florita” continued to coast the Philippine Sea towards the Luzon land mass, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

MANILA, Philippines — Four more areas were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 on Monday night, as Tropical Storm “Florita” continued to coast the Philippine Sea towards the Luzon land mass, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

According to Pagasa in its latest tropical cyclone bulletin, Florita was last located 145 kilometers (kms) east of  Casiguran, Aurora with maximum sustained winds of 75 kms per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

Pagasa said Florita was moving westward slowly at 15 kph and is expected to make landfall in the vicinity of east coast Isabela or east coast Cagayan on Tuesday morning, with chances of further intensifying into a severe tropical storm before doing so.

Heavy to intense rains with at times torrential rains will prevail on Tuesday over Cagayan, Isabela, Batanes, Cordillera Administrative Region, as well as Ilocos Region.

Meanwhile, moderate to heavy with at times intense rains will prevail over Aurora, Zambales and Bataan, while light to moderate with heavy rains will be experienced over Calabarzon, Metro Manila, and the rest of Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon.

Four more were added to the list areas placed under wind signal no. 2 (gale-force winds prevailing or expected within the next 24 hours) with the following:

  • Southern portion of Babuyan Islands (Camiguin Is., Fuga Is.)
  • Isabela
  • Quirino
  • Eastern and central portions of Nueva Vizcaya (Kayapa, Ambaguio, Solano, Villaverde, Bagabag, Diadi, Quezon, Bayombong, Bambang, Aritao, Dupax del Sur, Dupax del Norte, Kasibu, Alfonso Castaneda)
  • Apayao
  • Abra
  • Kalinga
  • Mountain Province
  • Ifugao
  • Northern portion of Benguet (Bakun, Kibungan, Buguias, Kabayan, Mankayan, Bokod, Atok)
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur
  • Northern and central portions of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao, Baler, Maria Aurora)

Meanwhile, the following areas are currently under signal no. 1 (strong winds prevailing or expected within the next 36 hours):

  • Rest of Babuyan Islands
  • Rest of Nueva Vizcaya
  • Rest of Benguet
  • La Union
  • Eastern and central portions of Pangasinan (Bani, Bolinao, City of Alaminos, Anda, Sual, Labrador, Bugallon, Aguilar, Mangatarem, Urbiztondo, Bayambang, Bautista, Alcala, Santo Tomas, Rosales, Balungao, Umingan, San Quintin, Natividad, San Nicolas, Tayug, Santa Maria, Asingan, San Manuel, Sison, Binalonan, City of Urdaneta, Villasis, Laoac, Pozorrubio, San Fabian, San Jacinto, Manaoag, Mapandan, Mangaldan, Santa Barbara, Malasiqui, Dagupan City, Calasiao, San Carlos City, Basista, Binmaley, Lingayen),

  • Northern portion of Laguna (Santa Maria, Famy, Siniloan, Pangil, Pakil, Paete)
  • Camarines Norte
