MANILA, Philippines — Minority lawmakers at the House of Representatives on Sunday vowed to scrutinize the P5.268-trillion budget for 2023, which is expected to be submitted to the House on Monday.
House Deputy Minority Leader Bernadette Herrera asked the chamber’s majority to give all 25 members of the minority sufficient opportunity to ask the heads of government agencies all questions about their budget proposals and other related issues even if the House leadership has said it would like debates on the spending bill to be concluded in less than 30 working days.
Herrera pointed out that Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan is assigning a task to every member of the minority for the budget hearings.
Herrera further said that the House minority lawmakers also plan to confront concerned agencies with adverse Commission on Audit observation findings.
