MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. appointed three new officials for the Sugar Regulatory Board on Saturday, including David John Thaddeus Alba as Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) acting administrator.
Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez confirmed these appointments to INQUIRER.net through text.
Alba will replace Hermenegildo Serafica, who resigned following the recent controversy on sugar importation.
Other SRA appointees include Pablo Luis Azcona, who will represent sugar planters, and Ma. Mitzi Mangwag, representing sugar millers.
These appointments come after Marcos’s announcement on Wednesday that he will reorganize the SRA amid issues of a sugar shortage in the country.
