DOH: Only 1.7M booster shots given, far below 23M target
MANILA, Philippines — The country has provided booster shots for more than 1.7 million people, far from the 23-million target by early October, the Department of Health (DOH) officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a press briefing on Friday.
Vergeire said that as of Friday, the government provided 1,729,547 booster shots out of the 23-million target.
Vergeire had said the agency aims to administer at least 23 million COVID-19 booster shots within President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s first 100 days in office.
Meanwhile, almost 72.3 million Filipinos are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with more than 17.3 million receiving their first boost dose and more than 1.9 million having their second booster dose.
