Around 60 out-of-school youths (OSYs) aged 14 to 16 from the hinterland barangays of Negros Oriental will participate in the Youth Leadership Summit on April 25-27 in Dumaguete City.
The three-day youth summit camp, with the theme “Sharing our planet: Deforestation,” will increase awareness and promote positive change in deforestation.
Oriental Negros Children’s Advocacy (Oncan) spearheads the summit, in coordination with military groups and various non-government organizations.
The participants will be taught spiritual values, how to help protect the environment, prevent drug abuse, and address issues on insurgency and human rights.
Oncan president Marietta “Baby” Jambora said the summit also aims to develop leadership skills, team building and role playing through various exercises and group activities.
The summit is part of the Bayanihan Para sa Kabataan project of various stakeholders that focus their sights on the spirit of “Bayanihan,” said Jambora.
