/ 07:57 AM March 21, 2012

A JEEPNEY dispatcher was shot dead while sleeping in the sidewalk in downtown Cebu City.

Killed on the spot was Elberto Padrigo, 32, who suffered a gunshot wound on the head.

Padrigo was sleeping on the sidewalk at the corners of Colon and Pelaez streets when a man on a bicycle arrived.

The man parked his bicycle, approached Padrigo and shot him.  The gunman hurriedly left the area.

Revenge could be the motive in the attack as Padrigo figured in a fight with fellow dispatchers days before the killing, said SPO1 Ruth Violango, homicide investigator of the Cebu City police./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
