MANILA, Philippines — A male passenger jumped onto the tracks of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Monumento Station on Wednesday morning, causing the rail system to limit its operations.

According to the management of LRT-1 in a statement, the man jumped at around 4:40 a.m. as a train was approaching the Monumento Station (northbound), prompting operations and security teams to immediately respond to the incident.

“LRT-1 operations were limited from Baclaran to Blumentritt (vice versa) only to give way to the necessary incident response,” said LRT-1 management.

The responding teams then immediately brought the passenger to Caloocan Hospital.

“Person is alive and being treated at the hospital already,” said LRT-1 spokesperson Jackie Gorospe in a Viber message to reporters.

Normal operations then resumed for the whole LRT-1 line from Baclaran to Balintawak at 5:59 a.m.
