P25.4-M worth of ‘shabu’ seized in Central Visayas
MANILA, Philippines – Anti-narcotics agents seized at least P25.4 million worth of crystal meth or “shabu” following a string of Synchronized Enhanced Managing Police Operations (Sempo) in Central Visayas, the police said Tuesday.
In a statement, the Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that from Saturday, August 13 to Sunday, August 14, a total of 709 suspects were arrested in separate operations against illegal drugs, gambling, and possession of firearms among others.
It also noted that 130 gambling operations conducted by the police yielded P26,781, while 251 guns and an explosive were seized in 185 other operations.
PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. pointed out that through Sempo, the police force hopes to “strengthen [their] active role in community building by ensuring a safe environment for the general public.”
