Trainer-trainee pair rules 16-kilometer race of 11th dyAB Kapamilya Run

Mary Joy Tabal was in her usual deadly form. And so was her coach.

Tabal and trainer John Philip Duenas emerged victorious in the premier 16-kilometer category of the Kapamilya Run held yesterday at the Asiatown IT Park.

The Southwestern University (SWU) duo won races together before, among them were the St. Peter Run, Run for Kids with Cancer, Run to the Power of Three, Run for a Child’s Future and the SRP Sun Down Run.

Tabal clocked one hour six minutes and three seconds while Duenas came in with a time of 56 minutes and 36 seconds.

FEATURED STORIES

The running event was part of DyAB 1512’s 16th anniversary celebration. It was held simultaneously with Cebu Normal University’s Centennial Run.

Fellow SWU runner Ian Bernido and University of Southern Philippines-Foundation’s Joeyry Lee emerged winners in the 10k category of the CNU Run.

The times and results of the other categories were not available as of press time.

In the Kapamilya Run, Siblings Jhean and Lovely Andrin dominated the the 10k women’s race.

The older Jhean (46:47) won first spot while younger sister Lovely Fe wound up a close second (46:48).

Jordan Bacong ruled the 10k men’s open category with a time of 35:12.  Reprinel Banzon of University of Cebu (UC) settled for second (35:32) followed by Riez Enriquez (35:42)  Jorry Ycong (17:26) and Jojielyn Mae Pepito (20:54)  topped the 5k division.

Meanwhile, Cristy Tutor wound up second in the 16k category with a time of 01:14:07. Marichu Luterte rounded off the top three lady runners with a time of 01:19:59.

Adonis Singson grabbed second spot in the 16k men’s category with a time of 56:58. Davao City’s Joebert Carolino placed third (58:07).
