MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of the country will experience hot and humid weather on Sunday with thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Saturday.
Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said the fair weather persists as the southwest monsoon or habagat only affects the western part of Southern Luzon, particularly on West Philippine Sea.
“Patuloy na nakakaapekto pa din ang southwest monsoon o hanging habagat na partikular dito sa kanlurang bahagi ng Southern Luzon, bagamat mga offshore na lamang ang pag-ulan, partikular sa may bahagi ng karagatan ng West Philippine Sea,” Badrina said in a public weather forecast.
(The southwest monsoon or habagat continues to affect the western part of southern Luzon, but it only causes rains offshore, particular in the West Philippine Sea.)
“Makikita natin halos sa malaking bahagi ng ating bansa, ay may mainit at maaliwalas na panahon sa umaga, pero may mga thunderstorms pa din sa hapon hanggang sa gabi,” he added.
(We could observe that in most parts of the country, the weather is hot and humid in the morning, but there are thunderstorms in the afternoon and the evening.)
Meanwhile, Pagasa is still monitoring a low pressure area 1,130 kilometers east of Mindanao.
Badrina, however, said the LPA is not currently affecting the country and is unlikely to intensify into a typhoon in the next 24 hours.
Pagasa has also not raised gale warnings in any seaboards of the country.
