Manager of condo unit owned by Chief Justice’s wife returns to witness stand

MANILA, Philippines – The manager of “The Columns”-Ayala condominium returned to the witness stand on Tuesday to continue his testimony in the ongoing impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Benz John Ignacio Lim, who first appeared Monday, was immediately called to the witness stand when the trial resumed a little past 2:00 p.m.

Sixteen senators, who sit as judges in the trial, responded to the roll call.

At the resumption of his testimony, Lim identified a document showing that Corona’s wife, Cristina, only got her unit from “The Columns’ in Makati City on Aug. 12, 2009.

The property was bought in 2004 but was only declared in the 2010 statement of assets, liabilities and net worth of the Chief Justice.

The defense team presented Lim and other pertinent documents to show that the property had defects, the reason why it was not immediately declared in the Chief Justice’s SALN.
