Over P1-M meth seized in Camarines Sur
EGAZPI CITY – Anti-narcotics team on Thursday (Aug. 11) arrested five suspected drug personalities and seized more than P1 million worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) in separate search operations in Libmanan town in Camarines Sur province.
In a belated report, Mark Anthony Viray, chief of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Camarines Sur, said the team, armed with a search warrant, arrested Julio Navarro Jr., 36; John Rey Brioso, 30; David Casulla Jr., 38; and Eduardo Vargas Jr., 22, while having a pot session in Barangay (village) San Juan at around 4:50 p.m.
The police and PDEA agents recovered a plastic bag with 50 grams of shabu worth P340,000, unused empty plastic sachets, and other drug paraphernalia.
Viray said Navarro was the subject of the operation and was identified as the drug den operator.
In a separate search operation, Eduardo Vargas Sr., 47, was also arrested in Barangay Poblacion at around 5:30 p.m.
Article continues after this advertisementThe authorities recovered four plastic bags with 100 grams of shabu worth P680,000 and other drug paraphernalia from his residence.
Article continues after this advertisementViray said Vargas Sr., who got his drug supply from Manila, was operating in the Bicol region.
“The arrest of his son, Eduardo Jr., was a coincidence; he was having a pot session with other suspects,” Viray said in a phone interview.
The suspects face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
