MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Coast Guard’s (PCG) incident report showed that the helmsman steering the MV Filipinas Cebu had fallen asleep, causing the ship with 260 passengers to run aground.

“According to MV Filipinas Cebu’s master, the helmsman (person who steers the ship) fell asleep while underway, causing the vessel to run aground,” said the PCG on Wednesday.
