Banquirego-Salogaol tiff ends in draw

ROMMEL Banquirego and Junie Salogaol  fought to a split draw in their six round bout last Sunday in the main event of the “Binukbukay sa Barangay” card at the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Gym in Punta Princesa.

Banquirego scored a knockdown in round three but Salogaol rallied in the last three rounds to earn the draw. The scorecards read, 57-55 for Banquirego, 57-55 for Salogaol and 55-55.

For the other matches, JR Salvador won by split decision against Jaime Bermiso with two judges picking Salvador, 39-38 and 39-37 while the other judge had it 39-37 for Bermiso. Joel Soterol won by TKO in the first round against Junjier Torbiso while Arnel Caoktoy Singwangcha won by unanimous decision against Alex Belongquel by scores of 40-35, 40-35 and 40-36.

Jhalel Payao beat Jonathan Francisco Singwangcha by majority decision. Two judges had it 39-37 for Payao while one judge had it at 38-38 draw. Kenny Demecillo beat Jun Ryan Quimbo by unanimous decision with all three judges scoring the fight 39-37.

The bouts were sanctioned and supervised by Celso Miranda, Rolando Mendoza and Glen Agena of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) of Cebu./Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
