MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck the waters off Antique on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
State seismologists recorded the tremor at 10:52 a.m., with its epicenter located 16 kilometers southwest of the town of Anini-y in Antique.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 18 kilometers, Phivolcs said.
According to the agency, Intensity IV — characterized by “moderately strong” vibrations — was felt and recorded in Anini-y, Antique.
Aftershocks and significant damage from the said earthquake are not expected, Phivolcs further noted.
