3 dead, 1 missing after drowning off Zambales beach

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—Three persons died, and another remained missing on Saturday after drowning in the waters off a beach area in Botolan town in this province, the police said Monday.

An initial investigation showed that the victims, who belonged to a family from Guiguinto, Bulacan, screamed for help after huge waves hit them while they were swimming at about 10:30 a.m., August 6, near the beach area in Barangay Panan.

The staff members of a nearby resort rescued Donna Santiago, 33, but she was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

The body of Realyn Rosales, 17, was found hours later.

Residents recovered about 5 a.m. the next day the body of Reynaldo Santiago, 60.

Another victim, identified as Rein Santiago, 13, remained missing. INQ
