LUCENA CITY—A suspected drug trader was wounded in an alleged shootout with the police during a buy-bust operation in Imus City on Sunday, August 7.

Anti-illegal drug operatives were about to arrest drug suspects Jeasalyn Tupaz and one alias “Bonbon” after they allegedly sold “shabu” (crystal meth) to an undercover cop in Barangay Anabu at 1:50 p.m.

When the lawmen introduced themselves as policemen, Bonbon reportedly drew a handgun and shot the arresting officers but instead hit Tupaz on her right leg.

Bonbon managed to escape toward a creek after the shooting, police said.

The police brought Tupaz to Ospital Ng Imus for treatment.

Recovered from Tupaz were four plastic sachets of shabu weighing 20 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P136,000.

The police tagged the two suspects as high-value individuals.

Tupaz is facing charges for violating Section 5 and 11, Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The police are now in pursuit of Bonbon. INQ
